Author of Secret Signals; early numbers-station researcher

British monitor Simon Mason publishes 'Secret Signals: The Euronumbers Mystery', one of the first books to catalogue European numbers stations by their tunes and voices, the Lincolnshire Poacher, Swedish Rhapsody, Papa November, and to insist, patiently, that they were real.
Mason moves his research online, one of the earliest web resources on numbers stations, and later helps circulate the ENIGMA newsletters. His work bridges the pre-internet listening community and the global monitoring networks to come.
Decades after Mason first insisted these signals were genuine spy broadcasts, court cases and declassified files prove him right. The patient hobbyist, dismissed as a conspiracy theorist, turns out to have been simply listening carefully.
