Primroses, Mostly

Two sharp yellow primroses; me out of focus in the meadow behind.

After the passes the mountains produced a meadow so entirely in bloom it looked like a decision, primroses and white stars to the ridgeline, and I gave it the hour it asked for. Camera low in the flowers, focus on two yellow blooms, and me behind them in the soft blur where the season lives: down to a camisole and not much else, propped on one elbow, eyes closed, being ground temperature for a while. The bees ran their routes around me with professional courtesy. The frame keeps me gently out of focus, which is accurate. The flowers were the subject. I was just the climate.
