Marginalia V

A sweat-soaked black top, a slipped strap, caught on the stairwell landing.

The lift is broken again, as it has been for weeks. I haul the week of bazaar bags up four flights and by the top landing my top is soaked dark at the shoulder and back, the strap clinging.

Effort is the most honest cosmetics I know. The lift remains a rumor.
